Hand Made Australian Aboriginal Style Large BULLROARER / Bull Roarer / THUNDERSTICK: with Dot Painting (Auction ID: 108068, End Time : Mar. 01, 2018 12:58:01) - OdzBodz Auctions Online - Land of Odz Live Auctions
What is a BULLROARER? The bullroarer is an ancient ritual musical instrument and a device historically used for communicating over greatly extended distances. Along with the didgeridoo, it is prominent technology among Australian Aborigines, used in ceremony across the continent.
Our bullroarers are all handmade by us. My husband does the woodwork and I do the painting.
This one is made of oak and has a dot painting on it. It is 15" long and is 2 7/8" wide.
Be sure to give the cord a slight twist before you whirl it, to get the sound started. It is a two to three tonal roar and rises and dips with the air current and spin. Swing over your head, or wrap the cord around the handle a bit and swing to your side for a different tone.
